The TDS Travel Time Measurement System works by identifying the same vehicle at two or more points in a road network, and then calculates the travel time based on the known distance. The system can supply the inputs for travel time studies. The system can be used to automatically read a vehicle license plate and to study the behavior and destination of traffic by matching vehicle license plate numbers. From these inputs you can easily determine what percentage of vehicles are local or through-traffic, or how many of the vehicles travelling a particular highway are doing so as a short-cut travel-time or heading for a specific destination.
