License Plate Reader Systems
| Overhead profiler based AVC systems use a combination of a Doppler radar, an overhead laser scanner and a treadle to provide classification information. A dual tire detection system as well as a weigh-in-motion system can also be included in the design. | Lateral profiler based AVC systems use a combination of a Doppler radar and a light curtain to provide classification information. The system can also incorporate treadle strips to provide for axle and dual tire detection in severe climates, and weigh-in-motion sensors. | License plate reader systems for fare collection and border surveillance use a 2 or 5 megapixel digital area scan camera to provide high resolution images for good optical character recognition of license plate numbers and states of origin. | |

Fiber Axle Sensors

| The AVC systems can be augmented with a pair of quartz sensors to provide accurate individual axle and tire weights as a vehicle passes through the profiling zone. It is well suited for preclassification systems for smart card toll collection lanes. | A lane simulator with the ability to simulate sensor inputs (loops, treadles, light curtains, AVI, etc.) to a lane controller. The unit simulates various types of vehicles with differing spacings, speed and AVI characteristics. | A fiber axle sensor consisting of a treadle frame with a treadle insert containing a Sensorline fiber optic treadle. Multiple units can be combined to form a dual tire detector or to provide additional reliability. | |

Transport Data Systems designs, develops, produces, and sells automatic vehicle classification, license plate capture and lane simulator systems for a variety of applications including the fare collection and border surveillance markets. TDS produces a number of different vehicle classifiers using a variety of sensors including Doppler radar, light curtains, overhead laser scanners and contact, piezo electric and fiber optic treadles and quartz weigh-in-motion sensors. TDS produces a variety of license plate capture systems. TDS also produces the associated plate location and optical character recogntion software. TDS produces a lane simulator for simulation of lane sensors into the lane controller. Simulated signals include radar, light curtain, treadles and loops as well as AVI. Additional sensors can be readily added to the simulator. |
