April, 2005 - Transport Data Systems was awarded a subcontract from the Revenue Markets for the installation and checkout of 11 Image Capture/Tag Recognition Systems for the Commercial Vehicle Division of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Located at strategic weigh stations throughout the state of Florida, these systems will provide the ability to capture images of license plates as the vehicles pass through the entrance to the station. The license number is extracted from the image of the license plate and transmitted along with the image to the TRMI station processor. The station processor in turn compares the license plate to state and federal license plate databases to detect vehicles of interest.

Transport Data Systems designs, develops, produces, and sells automatic vehicle classification, weigh-in-motion and license plate capture products for the fare collection, commercial vehicle operations, parking lot access, and border crossing markets. TDS also provides system, hardware and software design services for real time data collection and control systems with particular emphasis on the fare collection market.
